Sahara Desert Part Duex

Salada madi cum

Through Agidir and Guelim. And now in Tan Tan Plage. Chipping away at the 1, 200 km of desert region. Met Tash, an English girl, who just married a local guy. Who works at the camp site. Between them I sorted out some bread and fuel. And got the low down on black market petrol from Anglers.

The desert road is almost totally straight, so not too exciting. Two days ago I put my i pod on, whilst riding, for the first time. I'm sure I look like the Sheik of Cool, as I ride along, singing and boping in my helmet and enduro suit. Infact, entertainment is when I see some camels !! And they seem to look at me all confused.

Back in the north of Morocco, I'd see Police at most roundabouts. But they always waved me through. Now, there are very official check points. With a mixture of Morrocan Army and then Police. All armed. (This region has had issues in the past.)

They now always pull me over and ask for my passport. I need to print off and fill in something called a 'Ficshe'. (Might not be spelt correctly. )
It's a bit like a questionnaire for a dating show. What's your name, where do you come from, where are you going. And do you prefer brunette or blondes ? That sort of thing.

The desert is still a mixture of rock and sand. Not quite the Lawrence of Arabia set, you might expect. Temperatures and humidity are all tolerable. But I have noticed the bike is rusting at an unseen before rate! ! Any exposed metal and it rusts. I think the Sahara is like a microwave ruster. :(  so I have baby wiped the bike. Honestly, I have.  To remove all oil, I have a slight leak, so the sand can't stick.

I need to Google " cado " or " cadu". I'm guessing it means " can I have your cash buddy ". As ever kid I pass says it to me !!! Lol.

Presently being entertained by a four year lad. Who is pointing at bits of my bike. Wanting to know what it's called in English.  Nice just to be ' talking ' to someone.

Going for it tomorrow. Making good head way towards the Mauritania border.

Not much to report. Apart from sun, sand and dating questioners.

Find me on Facebook . London to Johannesburg. "Like" and get updates and more sarcasm.

The Good and The Bad news.

Well it's been four weeks since the last blog. Mainly down to my Summer job, working as on a touring Stunt Show. We are doing 140 odd, back to back dates, across all of the UK. It is long, long hours, seven days a week. So sorry for the delay, but work must come first to pay for the challenge in September. So what's been happening ? Well, I do have some magazines that want to feature the challenge. But have been waiting for the sponsoring graphics company to send the " London 2 Johannesburg " tank graphics. And the " Text WALK to 70900, to donate £5 today " banners. Short of it is,they messed it up. A sub contractor to the graphics company has all the information. And has had a big fall out. So that's the bad news. The knock effect has been, that there has been a delay in taking the challenge to a national level. And a subsequent loss of donations to my charity. Help for Heroes. Who assist in the recovery of wounded servicemen, who have predominantly lost arms and legs. The next 22 weeks, working 7 days a week is to pay for the 20,000 km solo, unsupported challenge. From London to Johannesburg on a Suzuki 125 Van Van!! So please do your bit and sponsor me. By clicking the Help for Heroes logo below. It's a UK registered charity. And a donation can be made quickly, safely and securely. Here try this CLICK ON LOGO
Although the situation with the graphics company has been frustrating, to say the very least. I do have some good news. Help for Heroes are now featuring this challenge on their main website. As an inspiration to others. So I feel pretty honoured about that. But slightly embarrassed. The big news is that I have been in contact with Suzuki GB for several weeks now. Their Public Relations Department have e mailed me twice, to say they are 99% sure of a full sponsorship agreement. Which is music to my ears. But I will leave it at that. As there are a few ifs and buts. But it's looking very good. I thought I'd try and post a quick video of some of the stunt stuff we do too. So check it out below.

Click to see our Stunt Show FMX riders..Free Style Motor Cross flying through the air.

Some more good news. despite the graphics hick up. I did ask Adventure Rider Magazine to go ahead with their feature. They gave a nice write up about the challenge. And put the donations page link at the bottom. Take a look at the article.Click Adventure Rider Magazine to read  Before I leave you for a few days. I just had to show you our two Monster Trucks. If you are a parent of a child about 3 ft tall ( Im not a dad, no idea of ages). take them to a show. They love them. And finally....a touring Stunt Show glamorous? What do you think to where we live ? It's a converted truck trailer. Very roomy !! One last comment. Please, please help me to raise donations. Re post this blog and tell your friends. But most importantly, link the Help for Heroes logo above yourself. Your £20 or whatever you choose all adds up. We have £1300 so far. My aim is £15,000. Will

Also on the sponsorship front. BCB Wales have confirmed there will be providing some support too. They are just awaiting the return of the MD from abroad. They supply the British Army and a number of Special Forces around the world. With all the threats on this challenge,as i cross Africa. The last thing I want is rubbish kit.So wait out,and we shall see what BCB come back with. Fingers crossed.
When I was on the blower to Bennetts Bike Insurance,I explained what I was doing and why. They have said they will try and link this blog site and the Help for Heroes page,to their website. I'm still on the look out  for a bike kit sponsor. Spada Sting and good Denier panniers anyone :)

All in all,a good day on Mount Admin.( I was not designed for admin, but hey ho).

Tomorrow i shall be back on the blower, speaking to possible sponsors and will update as I go along.
